Welcome to the City of Auburn, Alabama!

The City of Auburn is home to Auburn University. Auburn is a thriving city of approximately 50,000 permanent residents and 20,000 student residents for a combined population of near 70,000. Auburn is located along Interstate 85 in east central Alabama.

The unique character of the City of Auburn is the result of a combination of influences from the special atmospheres and energies provided by the diversity of communities in Auburn.

A key contributor to this winning formula is Auburn University, which brings to Auburn all of the educational and cultural opportunities associated with a world class university, as well as a youthful presence and major sporting events of interest to national audiences.

Another key element is Auburn's ability, through a long-term strategy of managed growth, to maintain the small town charm and identity of "the loveliest village on the plains" while undergoing the growth that is inevitable in a city with Auburn's reputation, outstanding public schools and varied community offerings.
