Forever Freinds Need Forever Homes

Savanah Stewart, 13

Over the past few years I have become passionate about the plight of animals in our community.  I hate to see them suffer in any way and I know how important it is to find loving, forever homes for them.  I was recently made aware that For Paws Boutique in Auburn has been taking in animals in need of homes.  They are actually a pet store, doggie day care and grooming facility and are doing this to try to find homes for pets rather than having them put to sleep.  This is a very big responsibility and one that they take very seriously.  Throughout September I have committed myself to trying to help them find homes for 3 furry, friendly dogs that have been there for some time now.  Though they have at this time 8 dogs there these 3 are in need of homes as soon as possible because they have been there the longest.  For Paws Boutique has been unable to afford to advertise that these dogs are there and ready for adoption because of the costs of advertising.
The dogs that I am referring to are named Martin, Mac and Cheese.  Martin is what they refer to as an Alabama Brown Dog because he really isn’t a specific breed.  Martin only has three legs because he was used as a bate dog in dog fights as a puppy.  Even though Martin has three legs you would never know it because he gets along just fine and was a lot of fun to walk on the leash.  Martin is 2 years old and has had all of his shots and is neutered.  He is the one I have grown very attached to because he is a fun, sweet dog who loves treats and belly rubs.  Martin would be a great companion for a couple or even a family who wants a sweet, wagging tail to greet them every day.  Martin seems to love you just because you love him and that is why I think he would make a wonderful pet.  Mac and Cheese are two beautiful lab mixed puppies that are 9 months old.  They look like twins and they are both boys.  They were abandoned in an apartment due to domestic violence.  I feel sad for them because they are so young, energetic and intelligent and they are just craving someone to spend some quality time with them.  I have a lab that my family adopted last fall and I know from experience that they make wonderful pets.  Mac and Cheese have also had all their shots and are also neutered.  They also enjoyed being walked on the leash and were full of puppy kisses.
If you are considering adding a new member to your family please consider going by and checking out these dogs at For Paws Boutique in Auburn.  You can call Rebecca at the shop at 502-7900.
Remember sometimes man’s (girl’s too!) best friend needs a friend!

Disney World Experience

WOW!  One day I went to Disney World with my sister Shamyia, and Grandma Barber, and church members. We rented a hotel room at Ramada Inns. It had a in and out door pool. The room had a TV, two full beds, microwave, bath, and a refrigerator. The hotel even had a washer and dryer room.
Later that evening we went to Disney World. We started going inside of Mickey & Minnie Mouse stores. When we came out it was time for rides. I got on a tunnel ride it was called Disney Secrets. It was fun. I say that because we saw all the Disney Cartoon Characters.
That night we went back to Disney World, and saw fireworks and the parade! The best three had Goof’s face on it with sparkles around it. The other one had Disney World on it with rockets shooting out behind it. Then the last one had Mickey’s and
Minnie’s face on it with red and black sparkles.
That night we swam and ate pizza. First we swam in the indoor pool.
Then we were in the Jacuzzi. Last we were in the outdoor pool. While that happened we had pizza.
The last night at the hotel we came to each other rooms playing video games. That night we stayed up later -  kids in one room, grown-ups in another. I will never forget this night. I say that because this was my fist time being to Disney World.

Writing

by: Teva S. Stinson, 7th Grade
Amy Holley’s Class, Loachapoka High School

When you think of writing I bet you think of an assignment from a teacher at school. I don’t. When I think of writing many things come to mind. Even memories are thought of when thinking of writing.
Personally, writing is an escape. A way to escape from everyday life, it’s a way for me to express what I feel and how I feel inside. Writing is like the Advil to my headache.
When I write I explain how I feel, what I see, how I feel doing something, and why I did it. Writing is my passion. It’s a passion I can turn into a career or keep as a hobby.
I believe when you write you should always be yourself. Whether you are writing a poem, a book, or even a novel, be yourself in it all
When you have a passion for something like writing you may not know how a story may end. As long as you’re passionate about what you’re writing your attitude, character, and feelings will show in your words.
