What Can We Do To Save Our Planet

Why do most people think that recycling is too much work? Well, people that find recycling hard, must not care for the environment, but those who do care are standing up for what they believe in. I think that if everyone that cares for our planet, stands up they can make a difference in the way we live. I mean how hard is it to simply turn off  a light when no one is using it, to take shorter showers to save water, set up an extra bin for recyclables, or even just fix a little leak?

Why must people destroy our environment, when the people who care are trying to save and preserve it?  What did Earth ever do to them? That is a question many people answer wrong. All Earth did was, give them food, water, sun, wind, and shelter to help them live and survive in this world.  But for those of you who don’t want to try and help recycle, reuse, and preserve this world, I am asking you to please, just try to help so that your grand or great grand children can have a great life on this planet we call Earth.

Even the people in New York City know that they can find hardly any fields of grass in the city. So, they are building gardens on top of buildings to grow plants, flowers, vegetables, and sometimes maybe even a tree of some kind. People are  also building small environmentally friendly neighborhoods so that they can help our home (Earth).

How about using solar energy (sun power)? You can do this by getting solar panels to collect sunlight, transfer, and use as energy for your home. It can also heat your water for you. There is a new renewable energy company in the Auburn area called “Tiger Green Power.” They can help businesses and homes reduce or even eliminate their power bills through clean energy technology. Have you ever seen a wind farm? Well wind farms help the environment more than you think. What wind farms do is so amazing, because they take wind and  use it to generate electricity. This will help save tons of polluting coal that is burned to produce our current electricity.

If you can’t try to fight for our planet then think of it this way, our Earth is the only planet we know of that has what we need. I know that there are other galaxies that may or may not have living people in them. Finding other planets that have life will help the un-noticeable people be noticed, but we might not even get to visit those galaxies, people, or life forms in our life time.

If you are wondering what  else you can do to start helping the Earth, you can find several recycling centers in the local phone book. You can call these centers to find out where to recycle your cans, plastic, paper, and glass (Auburn even has a curbside program.) Sometimes you may go to the store and buy some house supplies, and ten minutes later, after you have gotten home, you remember something you forgot to buy at the store. You decide to send somebody else to go get it, but as they are on their way to the store they are polluting the air by the gas burning out of their engine.  What you can do is get a dry erase board and write down what you need for that week, and buy what you need the first time so you save gas, money, and our home’s (Earth’s) beautiful air.

People in this country must understand, just like Obama (our president) said “It is time for a change.” Well, I think our new history-making president is absolutely right, it is time for us to make a change and start helping Earth rather than destroying it.  People may say it is too much work, but if we don’t help we might not have Earth at all. So I am asking one more time please help our home planet, Earth. Who knows if we will leave this planet remembering it as a waste land, or can we remember Earth as a healthy environment? Together as a team we can work to save our planet.
