A total of 23 Auburn student-athletes graduated as part of the Auburn University summer 2010 graduating class Monday.
The graduates represent eight of Auburn’s sport programs, including nine from football, three each from men’s basketball, men’s swimming and equestrian, two from women’s track and field, and one from women’s golf, soccer and softball.
The nine graduates from football include Michael Blanc (Pompano Beach, Fla.), Clinton Durst (Destin, Fla.), Mario Fannin (Hampton, Ga.), Blake Field (Thomasville, Ga.), Byron Isom (Jonesboro, Ga.), Robert Johnson (Montgomery), Andrew McCain (Birmingham), Ryan Shoemaker (Birmingham) and Terrell Zachery (Wadley).
The three men’s basketball graduates include Francis Aihe (Winter Park, Fla.), DeWayne Reed (Houston, Texas) and Shawn Stuart (Eight Mile Rock, Bahamas).
The three from men’s swimming are Stephen Scheren (Fairfax Station, Va.), Matthew Targett (Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia) and Jakob Andkjaer (Farum, Denmark) while equestrian’s trio included Chelsea Anheuser (Alpharetta, Ga.), Andrea Loar (Danville, Calif.) and Kimberly Pope (Portal, Ga.).
Danielle Gilchrist (Tulsa, Okla.) and Holly Knight (Devon, England) represented women’s track and field, while the other graduates included Karlin Beck (Pike Road) of women’s golf, Chelsea Yauch (Cincinnati, Ohio) of soccer and Alicia Hunolt (Tucson, Ariz.) of softball.
There were two Olympians, five All-Americans, two NCAA Champions, four SEC Champions, three All-SEC members, one South Region Champion, three SEC Academic Honor Roll, two Freshman All-Americans and two Freshman All-SEC selections.
The 23 graduates collectively hail from nine states and four countries.
Equestrian holding tryout meeting
The Auburn equestrian team will be hosting an informational meeting for females interested in trying out for the team Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Auburn Equestrian Center on Wire Road.
