Junior outfielder Brian Fletcher was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday after an outstanding weekend at the inaugural Auburn Classic.
Fletcher hit .636 with three home runs and 11 RBI during the three-game series against three different teams. His second home run of the weekend was the most important, as it sent Auburn to a 6-5 victory over Boston College in the 10th inning Friday.
Auburn (4-2) went 2-1 over the weekend, picking up victories over the Eagles and Florida Atlantic on Sunday. The Tigers’ lone loss came Saturday against Missouri.
Fletcher has now hit safely in all six games this season and has an 11-game hitting streak dating back to 2009.
Fletcher currently leads the SEC in RBI, home runs (four) and total bases (26), is second in slugging percentage (1.040) and 11th in batting average (.440).
Fletcher will hope to keep his streak going today as the Tigers host Davidson for a two-game series. First pitch tonight is set for 6:30 at Plainsman Park.
Sophomore right-hander Dexter Price will get the starting nod on the mound for Auburn, marking his first appearance of the season.
Davidson (6-2) will start sophomore left-hander Chris Lamb, who is also making his first appearance of the season.
Tonight is “Two for Tuesday” where fans can buy one ticket and get one free.
