On Wednesday, the Auburn baseball team joined the growing list of college baseball teams that have helped raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti.

Spurred on by the “Pinch Hit for Haiti” initiative started at Elon University, the Auburn baseball players pooled their money to donate to the cause.

In less than a week’s time, the “Pinch Hit for Haiti” effort spearheaded by Elon senior catcher Mike Melillo has seen more than $6,000 donated to the Red
Cross towards relief efforts in the island nation.

As of Tuesday afternoon, schools from 17 different states had donated towards the cause.

Season tickets on sale now
Season tickets for the 2010 Auburn baseball season are on sale now and can be purchased for as low as $135 through the Auburn Ticket Office.

Auburn opens the season Feb. 19 against Southeast Missouri State at 3 p.m. in the first game of a three-game series. Auburn will play a total of 34 games at Plainsman Park, which includes a three-game series against defending National Champion LSU, April 9-11.

Other SEC teams to come to Auburn are South Carolina (March 26-28), Kentucky (April 23-25), Mississippi State (May 7-9) and Tennessee (May 14-16).
In addition, Auburn will play host to a tournament Feb. 26-28 that will include Boston College, Missouri and Florida Atlantic.

Season tickets are now available in the Field Box sections for $170 per seat and in the Outfield Box sections for $135 per seat. Auburn University faculty and staff are eligible to purchase season tickets for $85 (limit of two).

Single-game and the new Flex Plan tickets will go on sale Feb. 15.
