Auburn begins this week trying to shake off four consecutive losses.

And it won’t be easy for the Tigers, as No. 21 Troy comes calling.

Auburn (14-10), which fell out of the top 25 after falling to Jacksonville State last Wednesday, then dropping all three games to Mississippi State this past weekend in Starkville, will host the Trojans (19-4) at 6 p.m. today at Plainsman Park.

The Tigers will start junior right-hander Jon Luke Jacobs (1-1, 1.93 ERA), who is making just his second start of the season, while Troy will counter with sophomore lefty Shane McCain (0-0, 4.82).

Tonight is also a homecoming of sorts for two Troy players.

Beauregard High graduates Hayden Hillyer, a redshirt freshman outfielder, and Kyle Brown, a true freshman first baseman, were both All-State performers for the Hornets, and they’ve started a combined 12 games at Troy this year.

Hillyer is hitting .250 (8-for-32) with five RBI and three stolen bases, while Brown is logging a .333 average (4-for-12) with two doubles and three RBI.

Auburn’s taken four of the last five games from Troy.

Tonight is also Two-for-Tuesday and Faculty/Staff Night, where AU employees receive free admission with valid ID.
