The Auburn baseball team will return to the diamond at 6 p.m. today when it plays host to Davidson in the opening game of a two-game series at Plainsman Park.
Auburn comes into the game 3-4 and riding high after Saturday’s 10-9 win over No. 5 Florida State.
Auburn will send right-hander Paul Burnside (0-0, 6.23 ERA) to the mound in the series opener after the senior did not get to throw on Sunday due to the cancellation of the game with Florida State due to snow.
Davidson (4-2) will counter with junior lefty Chris Kennedy (1-0, 1.80).
Auburn enters the series with a SEC-leading 17 home runs, five of which have come off the bat of junior Joseph Sanders, as the team has slugged at least two homers in every game this season.
Complimenting Sanders has been leadoff man Trent Mummey. The sophomore outfielder leads the SEC in runs scored with 16.
Today’s game is All Auburn, All Orange and fans are encouraged to wear orange to the game. It is also Two Dollar Tuesday and all tickets to the game are just $2. Wednesday night is Youth Night and those 17-and-under get in free with a cap and glove.
