Auburn’s Tony Barbee and Gene Chizik, along with Tiger greats, All-American Charles Barkley, Heisman Trophy winners Bo Jackson and Pat Sullivan, as well as Al Del Greco and Stan White, will participate in the Regions Charity Classic Pro-Am today at Ross Bridge in Hoover.

Barbee will tee off the No. 1 tee at 8:50 a.m., with Barkley, Sullivan, Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin and Rick Karle.

Chizik and Bo Jackson will participate in a putting challenge against Alabama’s Jay Barker and Anthony Grant at 9:30 a.m. on the practice putting green.

“I am excited to be playing in the tournament with two Auburn legends who mean so much to this school,” Barbee said. “Playing alongside Charles Barkley and what he means to our basketball program and this university is going to be exciting.

“Playing with Pat Sullivan, a Heisman Trophy winner, and Corey Pavin is exciting as well. I am a huge golf fan and watching him as a pro over the years in the success that he has had. I just hope all the fans wear helmets if they are standing on the side watching me swing.”

The Regions Charity Classic benefits Children’s Hospital, while Chizik and Jackson will be playing for the Plus Scholarship Fund. The winning team in the putting contest has $7,500 donated to its charity, while the other team has $2,500 donated to its charity.

“I’m looking forward to teaming with Bo in this worthwhile charitable cause,” Chizik said. “We had a great time last year and are excited to be returning this year.”

White tees off at 8:20 a.m. with pro Peter Jacobsen, while Del Greco is paired with Hale Irwin at 12:10 p.m. Jackson is with Hal Sutton at 12:30 p.m.

Softball’s White SEC 2nd-Team selection
Auburn junior Kyndall White has been named to the All-SEC Second Team after leading the Tigers in batting average, on-base percentage and tying for the team lead in home runs in league play this season.

It is the first All-SEC honor for White, who is from Pinson, and played at Clay-Chalkville High School.

“This is a tremendous reward for everything Kyndall has meant to our team this season,” Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. “She missed several games with an injury and for her to earn All-SEC honors after that says a lot about how well she played and the amount of respect she
earned from the other teams in the SEC.”

White had started 136 consecutive games until missing 14 games, including the first 11 games in league play, with an injury this season.

Since returning March 31, against Troy, White has hit .364 with 10 home runs, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored and a .462 on-base percentage in 22 games.

White has hit a team-high 12 home runs this season and is tied for eighth in Auburn history with 20 career home runs.

White has reached base safely via a hit or walk in the last 10 consecutive games and has scored at least one run in the last seven games.
