Softball hosts South Alabama today
The Auburn softball team will take a break from conference play when it hosts the South Alabama Jaguars for a single game at 6 p.m. today at Jane B. Moore Field.

Auburn enters the game with a 27-16 overall record, while South Alabama is 21-20-1 on the season.

“South Alabama is going to come in here ready to play and we are going to have to be ready for that challenge,” Auburn head coach Tina Deese said.

“We are coming off a couple of really tough games against Tennessee, and we need our team to come together and respond like I know we can.”

The Tigers are coming off a series sweep at the hands of No. 12 Tennessee last weekend in Knoxville.

Both games in Saturday’s doubleheader against the Lady Vols went down to the wire. Tennessee won the first game 2-1 in the bottom of
the 11th inning after a strong performance from Auburn pitcher Anna Thompson who set a personal best by throwing all 10 1/3 innings.

The Lady Vols won the second game, 3-2, after rallying from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh.
South Alabama enters the game having won five of their last eight games.

The Jaguars are led by Tara Donaldson who is hitting .381 (45-for-118) with nine doubles, four home runs and 33 RBI.
