Auburn junior Candace Schepperle was named 2008 Golf World Women’s Mid-Season All-American on Monday after leading Auburn in four of its five events through the fall season with a 71.57 scoring average. 

The Birmingham native also leads all Tigers in top-five finishes (4), sub-par rounds (7), rounds in the 60s (3), low round (66) and low 36- (137) and 54-hole totals (209).

Currently ranked fifth in the Golfweek Women’s Collegiate Individual Ratings, Schepperle has a 34-11-4 record against top-25 competition and is 396-18-4 overall.

After finishing the fall slate with two top-five finishes at the Derby Invitational and the Hooter’s Match Play qualifying rounds, Shepperle earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors for the first week of November.

At the Derby Invitational, held in Auburn, Oct. 24-26, Schepperle carded an even-par 216 to lead Auburn with a fourth-place finish.

Back-to-back 70s led to a 4-under 140 and a tie for fourth after the two qualifying rounds of the Hooter’s Match Play in Orlando on Nov. 2-4.

Schepperle earned SEC Golfer of the Month honors for September. following top-five finishes at Auburn’s two tournaments in September — placing second at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 26-28, and tied for fourth at the NCAA Fall Preview, held in Owings Mill, Md., Sept. 7-8.

In the NCAA Fall Preview, Schepperle shot even-par 216, including a 66 in the second round, tying for the best round of the tournament. In the Mason Rudolph Championship, she shot seven-under-par, including a tie for first-round best 67.

Schepperle’s only finish outside the top-five came in a ninth-place performance at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Oct. 3-5, carding a 5-over 221.

The Hooters Collegiate Match play Championship ended the fall season for the Tiger women’s golf team.

Auburn returns to the course Feb. 16-17, as the team travels to River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla., for the Central District Invitational.
