Three Auburn golfers were honored at the conclusion of the NCAA Championship by the National Golf Coaches Association last week.

Junior Cydney Clanton was named a NGCA First-Team All-American, while senior Candace Schepperle was named an honorable mention All-American. Freshman Carlie Yadloczky was named to the NGCA All-East Region Team.

Clanton, a native of Concord, N.C., earns first-team honors for the second time in her career. She finished the season with a school-record 71.45 stroke average. She finished in the top five in eight of 11 tournaments this season and finished in the top 10 in 10 of them. At the NCAA Championship, she carded a final-round 66 to finish in a tie for third place at 7-under par 281.

“Cydney put together one of the better campaigns in Auburn women’s golf history,” said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. “She had an incredible and consistent year, especially to end up like she did at NCAAs. I could not be prouder of her.”

Schepperle, a Birmingham native, earns NGCA All-America honors for the second time in her career. She finished the season with a 73.69 stroke average and finished in the top 10 in five of the 11 tournaments she competed in. Schepperle was the lone senior on the Auburn roster this season and finishes her career ranked third all-time in stroke average with a 73.91.

“Candace earned her second All-America award and I am so excited for her,” said Evans. “She had a good year, coming off a great year last season and that can be hard to follow but she did. She led by example all year and worked hard to reach her goal of being an All-American.”

Yadloczky, a freshman from Casselberry, Fla., earned her way onto the NGCA All-East Region team after taking runner-up honors at the NCAA East Regional with a 5-under par 211. She competed in all 12 tournaments this season, putting together a 75.41 stroke average along with four top-20 finishes.

“Carlie had an incredible performance at the NCAA East Regional and really played to her potential at that event,” said Evans. “I am proud of her and excited that we got a view of what can come of Carlie over her career.”

Auburn concluded its season May 21 at the NCAA Championship at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. The Tigers finished tied for 11th overall after carded a 31-over par
1,183 in the 72-hole tournament.
