Five signees will join the Auburn equestrian team next season.
Anna Becker from Branchville, N.J., Mallory Campbell from Conyers, Ga., Jillian Fuller from Monroeville, N.J., Lindsay Portela from Southwest Ranches, Fla., and Indy Roper from Hobart, Ind., have signed national letters of intent to attend Auburn University and participate in equestrian for the 2009-10 season, announced head coach Greg Williams.
Becker is an accomplished Hunt Seat rider, having placed in the top 25 at the 2008 USEF Medal Finals and top 20 in the 2008 Monarch International Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, while qualifying for the 2008 Kathy Scholl Equitation Classic at Lake Placid and for the George Morris Excellence in Equitation Class at the Winter Equestrian Festival in 2008.
Campbell won the AYA Superior Youth Award and was a Georgia High Point Youth in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
At the 2008 Appaloosa Youth World, she won the Dee Cole Memorial Sportsmanship Award and was the reserve overall high point Hunt Seat exhibitor, while being named champion in Working Hunter 18 & under, champion Hunter Hack 14-18 and reserve champion Hunt Seat Equitation 18 & under.
Fuller won the 2008 all rookie NRHA classes shown, the 2008 EPRHA Rookie Champion and was a qualifier for the Affiliate Championships. She was the year-end winner in 12 events and versatility champion in the ApHC in 2002, while earning the ApHC Youth Superior Award.
Portela has shown competitively for the past 13 years. She has participated in numerous events including the Maclays. Some of her riding awards include: the Running Show Memorial Trophy NCHJA Children’s Hunter Grand Champion, Crescent Creek Perpetual Trophy NCHJA Grand Adult & Children’s Champion, Taste of Honey Memorial Trophy High Score Children’s Hunter and Merrill Lynch Scholarship winner of 15-17 Littlewood Equitation League Finals.
Roper has a long history of success in horseback riding since an early age. She won her first Quarter Horse Congress Championship at the age of 8. She has won 30 championships at this prestigious annual competition.
She is also a four-time quarter horse world and reserve champion in numerous riding events.
