Rising sophomore Michael Hebert will transfer from Florida State to Auburn and will be eligible to play golf this fall for the Tigers, head coach Nick Clinard announced Thursday.

Hebert finished 11th in the NCAA Central Regional and helped the Seminoles to a third-place finish in the NCAA Championship by finishing 18th individually.

Florida State lost to eventual champion Augusta State in the semifinals of the NCAA Championship on June 6, while Hebert was the only freshman to compete in the match-play portion as he finished 1-1.

“Michael is a great player and an even greater person,” said Clinard. “He finished 11th in the NCAA Regional and 18th in the NCAA Championship. He brings a lot to our program not only as a golfer, but for what he represents off the course. He is a great fit for Auburn University.“

Hebert’s final round 64, a Florida State team season low, propelled the Seminoles to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Central Regional in South Bend, Ind. The Orlando, Fla., native had a 73.84 stroke average while playing in nine tournaments for Florida State this past year.

He tied for seventh in the Gator Invitational with a 4-over 214 and tied for 10th in the Gary Koch Intercollegiate with a 5-under 211.
