Auburn gymnast Allyson Sandusky has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Sandusky is the first Tiger gymnast to receive conference honors this season.

“For her to get that that honor is exciting and great for our program,” head gymnastics coach Jeff Thompson said. “Allyson did a great job Friday night. She stuck all her landings and she looked like anything but a freshman.”

Sandusky provided career-high scores on vault and bars as Auburn topped No. 10 LSU 196.575-195.300 on Friday. Vaulting third, Sandusky set a career high 9.875 to tie for third on the event, her highest finish in her rookie campaign.

She then set a career mark on bars in the No. 3 spot, posting a 9.825.

She tied for fourth to match her highest finish on the event.

The fifth-ranked Tigers will travel to No. 3 Georgia on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest in Athens.
