Freshman pitcher Jenee Loree threw her second no-hitter of the season as the Auburn softball team blanked Austin Peay, 5-0, on Saturday in the second day of the War Eagle Classic.

Auburn improved to 14-1 on the season, while Austin Peay dropped to 0-6 with the loss. The Tigers close the tournament with a 2 p.m. game against Purdue today.

Loree moved to 6-0 with the victory and became the first Auburn pitcher since Holly Currie to throw more than one no-hitter in the same season. Curry (2004-07) threw five in 2006. Loree threw her first no-no against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 6 at the FIU Tournament.

It is the 20th no-hitter in Auburn history. Loree’s line for the game was seven innings pitched, no hits, no runs, two walks, seven strikeouts and 24 batters faced.

“I’m very proud of Jenee and what she has been able to accomplish,” Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. “Our defense did a good job today behind her and they never really got a solid hit ball off her. I can’t say enough about our pitching this weekend.”
