WAHIAWA, Hawaii — Led by senior Glenn Northcutt’s second round 70, the Auburn men’s golf team shot 2-under on Day 2 of the John Burns Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,916-yard Leilehua Golf Course on Thursday.

At 2-under, the Tigers (286-569) are in seventh.

Senior Cole Moreland (71-138) is tied for fourth, Northcutt (70-139) is tied for eighth, and freshman Kyle Kopsick (73-144) is tied for 37th. Jonathan Fly shot a 72 in the second round, bringing him to 148 after two days of play, and Will McCurdy shot 75 for the day for a two-day total of 152.

“Like the first day, we left a few strokes out there,” said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. “I think we’re going to come out tomorrow and find them. We’re only seven shots out of the lead. If we come out tomorrow and play some good golf, we can climb back up there and head home with a good finish.”

After the second round, Arizona (280-556) is leading play, followed by New Mexico (285-562), Texas A&M (278-564), Nevada-Reno (281-565), Arkansas (286-566), SMU (282-567), and Auburn (286-569) in seventh place, in the field of 17.

The tournament continues with a shotgun start set today at noon.
