Freshman Katy Frierson has been tabbed a 2008 Soccer America All-Freshman Second Team member, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Frierson, who has also been named the SEC Freshman of the Year, a First Team All-SEC choice and a Second Team NSCAA All-Region selection, led Auburn in goals (nine) and points (25) while finishing third in assists (seven).

A force for Auburn in the midfield, she scored all nine of her goals in SEC play, which tied for the most in league action. Helping Auburn to a share of its sixth SEC Western Division crown, all but two of her points were recorded in league play.

Frierson becomes just the second Auburn soccer player to be recognized by Soccer America following her freshman season, joining former goalkeeper Megan Rivera (2001).

Frierson also learned recently that she has been selected to participate in the US Soccer U-23 Training Camp to be held in Chula Vista, Calif., from Jan. 5-12. She previously played for the U-23 team in 2008, helping the squad to the 2008 Nordic Cup in Falun, Sweden.
