Auburn beat Portland St., 2-1, with a sixth-inning run in the Seattle NCAA Regional on Friday, setting up a rematch with BYU in the elimination bracket tonight.
Kyndall White led off the sixth inning with a double, then came around to score the eventual winning run on an Elizabeth Eisterhold sacrifice fly.
Lauren Schmalz got the win in relief, pitching a hitless final 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
Auburn (40-18) went ahead 1-0 in the first on a Kelsey Cartwright double to score Morgan Estell, who led off the game with a walk.
The Vikings, who ended their season at 34-18, tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single by Crysta Conn – following a Lacey Holm two-out double – in the fourth.
Portland State put runners on first and third with two outs in the fifth – chasing Auburn starter Angel Bunner – but Schmalz (15-6) forced a pop out to end the threat.
Auburn plays BYU (39-17), which beat the Tigers, 2-1, on Thursday night, for the right to play host Washington (36-14) in the region final Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
