Forty current and former Auburn’s men’s and women’s swimmers will be in action this week at the 2008 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Short Course National Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
Highlighting the field from Auburn are 2008 Olympians George Bovell, Alana Dillette, Mark Gangloff, Gideon, Louw, Eric Shanteau, Matt Targett and Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace.
Twenty-six of Auburn’s relay teams or individuals have received top-three seeds in their respective event. The men’s and women’s relay teams of the 200 and 400 free and each received the top seeds.
Individuals receiving top seeds are Ava Ohlgren in the women’s 200 and 400 IM, Maggie Bird in the women’s 1650 free and Tyler McGill in the men’s 200 butterfly.
Action begins each day with preliminary heats at 9:30 a.m. The finals session gets underway each evening at 6:00 p.m. On Thursday the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 400 medley relay events will be held. On Friday the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay events will take place, while the final day of action includes the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
Prelims start each day at 8:30 a.m. Evening finals begin at 5 p.m.
