Auburn senior Alli Smalley was named to the All-SEC first team Tuesday, based on polling of the league’s coaches.

Smalley, a native of Arab, finished the regular season averaging 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She scored more than 20 points in three games this season, including the last two, in which she scored 22 in the Tigers’ upset 63-58 win at No. 22 Georgia and 24 in their 76-62 loss to No. 20 Kentucky.

“It’s definitely a big honor to be given that, just because of the tough league we play in,” Smalley said. “It has so many great players. To be put up there with all of those players is a great honor.”

Smalley is the ninth-leading scorer in Auburn history, with 1,557 points, and is the Auburn record-holder for career 3-pointers with 218.

She has also notched a team-high 48 steals on the season, ranking 10th in the SEC with 1.7 per game.

“I’m so excited, so happy for her,” Fortner said. “She’s had a great career here, just gotten better every year. The biggest thing is she’s been such a consistently hard-working, tremendous teammate for four years.

“To see all that hard work pay off is just incredibly pleasing.”

Tierney Jenkins (Alabama), Porsha Phillips (Georgia), Victoria Dunlap (Kentucky), LaSondra Barrett (LSU), Shekinna Stricklen (Tennessee), Glory Johnson (Tennessee) and Jence Rhoads (Vanderbilt) join Smalley on the first team.
