Tony Barbee said he’s excited about his first “full-time signing class,” which he solidified Monday.
Cedrick McAfee, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard from Memphis, Tenn.; Willy Kouassi, a 6-foot-10, 215-pound center from Birmingham; and Bernard Morena, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward also from Birmingham., have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at Auburn as part of the 2011-12 class.
“I think we addressed some needs that we have as a program and are continuing to build the depth as a part of this team, especially in the guard position with Cedric McAfee,” Barbee said. “I am excited about Cedric and what he is going to bring to the floor, but also because I think all three of the guys are going to be great Auburn men.”
McAfee, ranked 74th nationally by Rivals.com and the 19th top guard in the country, plays for Melrose High School, which is the No. 1 ranked team in America.
A native of the Ivory Coast, Kouassi is ranked 87th nationally by Rivals.com and the 11th best center in the country. Kouassi averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds for loaded Birmingham Central Park Christian.
Morena, also a native of the Ivory Coast and a teammate of Kouassi at Birmingham Central Park Christian, averaged 10 points per game last year.
