Mike Dyer was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday by the league office, two days after he carried 27 times for 177 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers’ 41-23 win over Ole Miss.

Dyer came 3 yards from tying his career high of 180 yards, which he set last year against Ole Miss, and put up his fifth 100-yard performance of the season, not to mention his third 150-yard game.

As he is wont to do, Dyer only got stronger in the second half, as 116 of his yards came after the break.

The sophomore has 186 carries for 989 yards and nine touchdowns on the year, creeping up on his freshman year rushing total (1,093) with three regular season games still to go.

He is the fourth Tiger to earn weekly mention from the SEC after Tre Mason (co-Freshman of the Week, Sept. 5), Steven Clark (Special Teams Player of the Week, Oct. 3 and Oct. 17) and Corey Lemonier (Oct. 17).

Eltoro Freeman and Cody Parkey also earned mention for their performances against Ole Miss.

Freeman logged 11 tackles and two sacks and Parkey recorded five touchbacks on seven kickoffs, to go along with field goals of 40 and 31 yards.

Clark candidate for Ray Guy Award
Clark was named one of 54 candidates for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced Monday.

The list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists to be announced Nov. 11, and the top three finalists will be identified Nov. 21. The presentation of the award will be featured on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Clark, a sophomore, is averaging 40.1 yards per punt with 25 of his 55 punts landing inside the 20.

Only eight of his punts have even been returned, with an average of 5.1 yards per return.

CBS exercises six-day option for AU-UGA
CBS exercised its six-day option for the Nov. 12 SEC games.

That means Auburn’s trip to Georgia can be at any of the following times on any of the following channels: 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. (both CBS), 5 p.m. (ESPN2) or 6:45 p.m. (ESPN).

Other games in play for that day are Alabama-Mississippi State, Florida-South Carolina and Tennessee-Arkansas.

CBS gets the first pick for its 2:30 game, then ESPN, then ESPN2, then CBS again for the 11 a.m. slot.
