Tigers pick up another commitment

Auburn’s A-Day game continues to pay recruiting dividends.

The Tigers hosted more than 200 recruits on A-Day. The trip made an impression on at least two of them.

Greenville defensive lineman Jamontay Pilson committed to AU during his A-Day visit. Faith Academy quarterback Raymond Cotton waited a little longer to make his decision final.

But Cotton didn’t wait long. Monday, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder announced his plans to sign with Auburn next February.

Cotton is Auburn’s third commitment for the class of 2009, joining Pilson and Williamson defensive lineman Terrence Coleman. All three prospects are from south Alabama.

Cotton’s father, Raymond Cotton Sr., told Auburnsports.com that his son had made his decision before the family returned home from A-Day.

“He had just that good of a time at Auburn,” he said. “Auburn is a great fit for him and Raymond knows it’s. There’s no doubt in my mind that it’s the best fit for him.”

Cotton had almost 1,500 yards passing and 17 touchdown passes and ran for 682 yards and eight more touchdowns. He chose AU over scholarship offers from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Purdue and Troy.
