ORANGE BEACH — Auburn earned its first-ever SEC Tournament Championship with a 3-2 win over Florida on Sunday afternoon at the Orange Beach Athletic Complex.

Arkansas earned a season sweep over the Auburn volleyball team on Sunday, defeating the Tigers 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 19-25) at the Student Activities Center.

Auburn assistant football coaches Tommy Thigpen and Trooper Taylor were pulled off the recruiting road for 45 days last fall by the school after Auburn self-imposed penalties from two secondary NCAA violations involving Tiger Prowl in the spring of 2010.

It was the Auburn basketball team’s final preseason chance at improvement.

Junior Katie Gardocki and sophomore Zane Grothe combined to win five individual events, the men’s and women’s teams combined to post 12 NCAA provisional qualifying times, and the Tigers remained perfect on the year with a sweep of Penn State on Friday afternoon at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
