Whitney and Matt

A relationship that is to last a lifetime must have a steadfast foundation. It must be built not only on love, but on trust, open communication, gentle correction, willingness to compromise, a deep-hearted friendship, happiness in the present, and hope for the
future.

As a couple Matt and Whitney share these qualities in every aspect. This foundation blossomed into a bond that cannot be broken by man or parted by simple disagreement. “We both honestly believe that there is no one else on earth we would want to spend the rest of our lives with. Finding the words to describe the joy we share when around each other is nearly impossible. Something so heavenly cannot be described with simple words
like happiness, peace, joy, honor, or love! It can only be lived out by two very blessed people,” say Whitney and Matt.

The Proposal

Whitney and I were at the Auburn-LSU football game sitting in section 46, row 31. Before the game, I had a friend of mine create a huge banner that had the question “Whitney, will you marry me?“ painted on it. Another friend was nice enough to bring it into the stadium before the game and place it about 8 rows up from us. It had a note attached to the rolled up banner explaining what it was for and when to unroll it (with 4:00 left to go at halftime). I had contacted photographic services to send a photographer up there as well, along with someone on the field recording video.

When 4:00 came along, the photographer started taking a few photos, so I convinced Whitney to stand up and get a picture with me. She was a little hesitant saying, “But you know it costs money, right?“ Of course, I was perfectly fine with that. Little did she know that the banner was right behind us. She had no clue hat was coming. After a few shots, I told her I had a question to ask (and a few other things I don’t quite remember after all the excitement). I pointed up to the banner. The look on her face was PRICELESS. She was so surprised! The fans in our section were cheering as well, so that made it even better. When she turned back around, I had taken a knee and had the ring out. I popped the question then & there in front of thousands of people. It took a few seconds for it to hit, but she was finally able to mouth a “YES!“ along with a nod. I had another friend bring up a dozen roses for her after she said yes since she loves getting flowers. Even though Auburn lost that game, it was one of the best games I’ve ever been to. At least we were winning at the half!

Thankfully, everything went just as planned. It was an amazing moment that I know we’ll both remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much to all the people that helped make this happen - especially the fans in row 38 who I had never met in my whole life!
