Each April, hundreds of visitors turn out for the Alabama Crawfish Festival. The event is hosted by Louisiana native, John Broussard, a.k.a. “Ca-John.” Ca-John grew up catching “mudbugs” at his childhood home in Southern Louisiana. After catching a bait of crawfish, he would bring them to his mother who would cook up a crawfish feast. Although he no longer lives in Southern Louisiana, his love for crawfish never died and today, he shares his favorite recipes with the public in two ways: at his restaurant, Faunsdale Bar & Grill, and through the annual Crawfish Festival. In addition to food, the festival has live music and dancing, and a mechanical bull.
